Week 3/1-3/5

Hello. We will e continuing the novel HOLES this week. As we read we will be learning and reviewing story structures. We will also be adding to our plot line, time line, and character chart. Here is this week's schedule:

Mon. 3/1: Section 4 Vocab for HOLES; Discussion about characterization
Tues. 3/2: Read Section 4 of HOLES; Discussion about conflict and problem and solution
Wed. 3/3: Continue reading Section 4 of HOLES; Discuss plot line and time line
Thur. 3/4: Discuss themes and main ideas in HOLES
Fris. 3/5: Quiz on Section 4

Week 2/22-2/25

Hello! this week we will be continuing to read the novel HOLES. We will be adding to our Plot Line, Character chart, and Time Line as we read. We will also be discussing the specific literature structures Problem/Solution and Cause/Effect. Don't forget that this week is Student-Led Conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday Afternoons. Here is this weeks schedule:

Mon. 2/22: Review Section 3 Vocabulary; Discuss Problem/Solution and Cause/Effect; No homework

Tues. 2/23 and Wed. 2/24: Read and discuss Section 3 of HOLES; add to Plot Line, Character chart, and Time Line

Thur. 2/25: Finish Section 3 discussion; Reading Day

Week 2/15-2/19

Hello, This week we will continue to read and discuss HOLES. Our focus will be on understanding the characterization as well as finding themes in the story. We will also be practicing using informational text as we discuss ideas from the novel. At the end of the week we will be taking notes on story structures we we will learning in 3rd quarter. Here is this weeks schedule:

Tues. 12/15: Library day for informational text practice; In class assignment "Inventors"
Wed. 12/16: Library day for informational text practice; In class assignment "Future Plans"
Thur. 12/17: Discuss Library assignments; Characterization discussion; No homework
Fri. 12/18: 3rd Quarter Notes; Vocab for Section 3 of HOLES; No homework.

Week 2/8-2/12

Hello! This week we will be continuing to read HOLES. We will be reading Section 2 (Chapters 8-17) and working on vocabulary, reading strategies and comprehension skills as we read. Our particular area of focus will be learning and understanding a plot line and using summaries to aid in comprehension. Here is the schedule for this week:

Mon. 2/8: Read and discuss HOLES; start vocabulary for Section 2

Tues. 2/9: Read and discuss HOLES; finish vocabulary for Section 2

Wed. 2/10:Review using Informational text use (Dictionaries and reference books) to prepare for mini-library research activity.

Thur. 2/11: Discuss plot line and side story in HOLES. Review for HOLES Section 2 quiz

Fri. 2/12: HOLES Section 2 quiz
