Hello!!
This week we are working on reading and understanding functional materials, specifically brochures. Each student has been given a brochure to identify the important information and show understanding of this type of functional text. Then, students will create their own brochure for a product or service that they design. Most of the work will be done in class, however, if students choose not to use their time wisely, they will need to complete the project at home. WE will also be starting a class novel this week. WE will be reading the fun Science Fiction novel The Dark Side of Nowhere, by Neal Schusterman. As we read, we will be utilizing the Reading Strategies we have been learning in class. Here is this week' Schedule:
Mon. 10/5: Work on Student Brochures; Review for Reading Strategy Quiz
Tues. 10/6: Reading Strategy Quiz; Work on Student Brochures; Mini-Lesson on Pre-Reading Strategies
Wed. 10/7: Brochure check-off; Start class novel
Thur. 10/8: Computer Lab Time to create brochure
Fri. 10/9: Computer Lab Time to complete brochure. Brochure Due Today!!!
